Manor house. C17, extensively remodelled in the C18. Brick, pantile roof.
C17 main range with porch to south and C18 outshut to north. To the left
and projecting forward a single bay range of C17. To the rear of the main
range at right angles another long range with some C17 brickwork. South
facade of 3 bays, 2 storeys. Flint plinth. Off-centre 2 storey porch
to middle bay with arched opening and hood mould over. 6 panel door to
house. C18 leaded casements in larger, blocked openings which used to cut
the plinth. South wall and porch in English bond with diaper work. C18
leaded casement to first floor of porch. Fine shaped gable. Parapet gables.
Right hand gable end stack, right hand gable wall C18. To west of this
range, projecting south a single bay 2-storey range with C17 brickwork now
with C18 casements to south. To west a C20 bay window, south-west corner
has C20 stack inserted. Projecting north from main roof a long 2-storey
range with random fenestration. One 3-light mullioned and transomed window
with ovolo moulding to west wall, ground floor. Remains of diaper work
to west wall. Rest probably C18. To rear of main range a 2-storey stair
outshut with late C18 sash window; ground floor cut away to allow light
into hall. Interior. Beside front door re-sited Atlas figures, bearded,
with strapwork to base; ionic capitals. Now beside arched overthrow with
egg and dart detail and vegetation in the spandrels. Part C17 stair,
re-positioned, with turned balusters, decorated handrail.
