Dairy Cottages

Pair of cottages. Circa late C18, probably extended in Cl9.
Flemish bond red brick. Pantile roof with gable ends, left (west)
end with coping and brick stack with 2 diagonally set brick
shafts.

Pair of attached one-room plan cottages with outshut at rear
probably a C19 addition. Adjoins west of No 4 (qv).

2 storeys. Symmetrical 2-window south front. Cl9 2-light
casements, mostly with glazing bars, those on ground floor in
segmented brick arch openings with small keystones. Two doorways
at centre with segmental brick arches, glazed door on left and
vertically panelled door on right. Roof at rear is carried down
over 2-storey outshut with tall central stack. 3-light casements
and another small outshut at centre.

Interior not inspected but left hand cottage (No. 2) was observed
to have chamfered cross-beam.

Note: These cottages do not appear on the 1732 estate map.
