Gissing Hall
TM 18 NW 13/2 11.9.51


C17/18 wing at rear (north), red brick, slate hipped roof two storeys and
attic, C18 mullion/transom windows, and sashes. Mainly circa 1840 mansion
in Tudor style, with possibly earlier core, red brick, slated roof. Asymmetrical,
two storeys and attic, and three storeys. South side stepped gables left
and right, the left hand gable has adjoining crenellated clock tower. Three
storey projecting porch near centre with stepped gable, buttresses and four-centred
arch moulded doorway with carved spandrels, large stair window to right.
Mainly three-light mullion/transom windows with dripmoulds and chamfered
reveals. Large squat central tower with embattled parapet and lantern with
wind vane. Grouped brick chimney stacks with brick cornices. Modern wing
on north side.
