1897. A stone pedestal of square section surmounted by an urn, on a brick
Inscribed "AD 1897 In this Jubilee year of HM Qzeen Victoria about 100 skeletons
were discovered on this hill together with some Roman pottery".
An oak tree has grown up beside the monument and its roots are toppling
it over.
