4/97 The River House
(Formerly listed as Riversdale)


Large house. Early C19. Brick with slate roofs. Consists of 3 blocks with central
one fully advanced. Mainly 2 storeys with cellars. Symmetrical 3-bay main facade
of sash windows with glazing bars beneath skewback arches. Panelled front door with
fanlight and a C20 pedimented doorcase. Twin bracketted eaves and hipped roof.
Segmental bay windows to sides. Similar east wing of 2 bays with a 2-leaf central
French window. West wing appears to be single storeyed with 2 very large sash windows
with glazing bars. 4 tall stacks.
