6/92 The Kennels

Farmhouse converted into 2, now single again. Late C16 thatched cottage
with a taller C17 side addition. Rendered timber frame partly replaced
with colour-washed brick. Thatched and pantiled roofs. One storey with
attic to original cottage, 2 storeys with attic to addition. Fenestration
of c.1700 with metal casements and original decorative spring latches.
Some C20 standard window replacements. Single dormers to front and rear
of original cottage. Front door opposite stack. Stack with 3 fine angled
shafts in joined gable-end of added part. Original cottage with surviving
pair of service doors and beams with wide chamfers and stepped stops.
Stair to entrance side of stack. Ogee and nicked chamfer stops in later
part. Butt-purlin roofs with wind bracing in original cottage.
