Farmhouse. 1586 according to renewed datestones at bases of chimneys.
Rendered timber frame with returned brick gable-ends. T plan formed by
contemporary service extension to rear. 2 storeys with attic. 5-bay facade
with a central 2-storey porch with a C19 2-leaf front door with bracketted
hood. 3-light C18 window above. Decorative pendants from projecting wall-
plate ends. C18 fenestration with 5 4-light mullion and transom windows
and 3 of 3 lights without transoms. Metal casements and some surviving
leaded lights. 2 sloping dormers with 3-light casements. Crow-stepped
gables and 3, partly rebuilt, octagonal chimney shafts at each end. Both
stacks flanked by pairs of small openings with moulded brick stuccoed pedi-
ments and stuccoed reveals. 2 windows to north retain original single
diamond mullions. Pairs of oculi to attic with raised stuccoed reveals.
2 storey service wing partly rebuilt. C20 lean-to. Winding stair beside
south stack survives from first floor to attic. Dog-leg main stair to
north of centre with acorn newel knop and substantial handrail of elliptical
section. High quality frame of 4 bays with an 8-bay clasped purlin roof
with wind bracing. Some joists with angle rolls to one side only. Some
nicked chamfer stops to door frames. Several original doors with fielded
centre panels.
