BERGH APTON BUSSEY BRIDGE

5/16 54 and 55 Bussey Bridge
Pair of cottages, late C18/early C19. Whitewashed render over brick and
timber frame. Thatched roof, with C20 tiled extension. 1½ storeys.
Symmetrical facade to east; two entrance doors with vertical cover battens
and eliptical arched tops, flanked by 2-light square headed casements with
Gothick glazing bars. Two dormers with pointed heads and intersecting
glazing bars. Chimney stacks symmetrically-placed with three square linked
shafts to each stack. North gable has one ground floor square headed window
with Gothick glazing bars and two attic windows with pointed arched heads,
one with 'Y' tracery. Small attic louvre vent in gable apex. Central
pantiled lean-to extension on west flanked by 2-light ground floor casements
with Gothick heads and 2-light dormers with 'Y' tracery. 3-light north
and south windows in lean-to with Gothick heads.
