Farmhouse. C16 and later, much modernised and sub-divided C20. Brick and
timber frame, rendered and whitewashed. Steeply-pitched pantiled roofs. Two
storeys and attics, T-shaped plan, cross-wing at east end. East facade two
windows wide: 2 x 3-light C20 casements; ground floor canted bay to right
with hipped slate roof and sashes with glazing bars. Doorway between window
openings - 4-panel door with rectangular fanlight, reeded pilasters and canopy
on console brackets. Brick return south gable to crosswing with parapet on
moulded brick corbels, octagonal finials at gable base. Large internal gable
stack with three octagonal shafts on moulded bases linked by plain cap of C20
brickwork; main stack rendered above roof line. External stack of C20
brickwork on north gable of crosswing. South wall of main range has offcentre
gabled 2-storey porch, partly timber framed, underbuilt in brick with plain
corner pilasters. Pointed entrance arch with plain brick drip mould. Old
entrance door with ovolo-moulded battens and doorframe with wide stopped
chamfer. Bay between porch and crosswing contains C20 casements and pantiled
wedge dormer. West of porch two widely-spaced windows: 3-light C20 standard
casements, with pointed-arch doorway between, arch rebuilt in C20 red brick.
Opposite doorway, a large axial chimney stack with three octagonal shafts on
moulded bases, the easternmost shaft rebuilt. Shaft tops linked by plain cap
of C20 brickwork. Western bay of whitewashed brick, west gable rebuilt in
C20 red brick. Rear (north) elevation has scattered fenestration of C20
casements. Slight projection at north-west corner with C20 dormer. North
wall rebuilt on faced-in C20 whitewashed brick. Low single storey pantiled
range on north gable of crosswing.
