5/13 Yeoman's Cottage

House. C16, encased and re-roofed 019, restored C20. Red brick, rendered
and colourwashed, encasing timber frame. Shallow-pitched pantile roof. l 1/2
storeys, originally cross-passage plan. Fenestration all C20; 2-light
casements with leaded glazing. Doorway off-centre to south, re-sited in recent
restoration work. Chimney stack off-centre to north. Interior: C16 timber
frame complete up to wallplate level. Arch-braced tie beams on jowled principal
posts. First floor beams with ogee chamfer stops. 5-light window with
octagonal mullions in ground floor north wall. 5-light and 2-light diamond
mullioned windows in west wall. Southern bay possibly a later rebuild; stack
and first floor a C17 insertion. Later gabled single storey extension at north
end.
