7/89 Barn at Church Farm


Barn, C17 and later. Red brick to east, timber framed and weatherboarded
to west. Steeply pitched roof with corrugated iron sheeting replacing thatch.
Large double door opening central in north wall; doors missing. Brick wall
with two buttresses to east of doorway. Brick lean-to on south side, opposite
doorway. Western section of south wall rebuilt in C20 blockwork. Roof has
two tiers of staggered butt-purlins; some curved wind braces to upper purlin
remain. In the western side, jowled principal posts with tie beams. Braces
from posts to wall plate and gable tie. Six-light window in west gable.
