GV II*

Farmhouse. Early C17 and C18. Red brick. Steeply pitched pantiled roofs;
black glazed tiles on west side. Two storeys and attics. Main facade of
five bays arranged 1:3:1; symmetrical, outer bays occupied by 2-storey canted
bays. Sashes with glazing bars under rubbed brick arches. Eaves parapet
on brick dentil cornice. Plain corner pilasters. Central doorway with 6-panel
door, Doric doorcase with open pediment and semicircular fanlight with
glazing bars. Three gabled dormers with decorative barge boards.
Crow-stepped north and south gables. Axial stack, off-centre to south, with
linked shafts. External stack on north gable. Attic casement in south gable,
lower openings blocked. On the west side, opposite the stack, a 2 1/2 storey
stair turret with stepped gable. Blocked 3-light attic window; 3 and 4-light
mullion and transom windows below. At the south-west, one and two-storey
wings, square with castellated parapets; blocked openings, some with plain
brick drip moulds; sashes with glazing bars in south wall. Catslide roof
over lean-to at north-west corner. 1 1/2 storey wing to north with stepped gable;
two C20 flat-roofed dormers; square projection on west side with castellated
parapet. Attached castellated screen wall to garden at north-east corner;
garden wall to south, red brick with piers and saddleback coping.
