House, c.1500 with C17 and C19 additions. Timber framed, rear to road
rendered and colourwashed, colourwashed brick skin to front; thatched roof,
gable parapets, end internal stacks and axial stack rebuilt. Irregular
single range of 5 bays, 1½ storeys in 4 builds; 4th bay c.1500, bays 3 and
5 early C17, bay 2 later C17, bay 1 in brick c.1800. Principal facade to
south-east: wall plate visible to bays 2 to 5; slight angled break in facade
between bays 2 and 3; axial stack between bays 3 and 4. Ground floor with
5 casement openings with transoms of 3 lights to bays 1-4, of 4 lights to
bay 5. Three boarded doors each with coped canopy between bays 1 and 2,
3 and 4 and 4 and 5. 4 half dormers each with 3-light casement and raking
thatched roof. Left return of brick c.1800 of brick with 2 segmental headed
double casements; right return of brick, C17 with brick tumbling in to raised
parapet, C19 lean-to under pantiles. Rear to road: road and pavement level
above floor level, 3 fixed rectangular openings close to ground, 3 small
openings close to eaves. Interior: bay 4 of l½ bays with 2 trusses of Queen
posts and arched braces to both ties and collars, ties to trusses and 3rd
truss all cut through. Central stack inserted through 3rd truss, timber
studding above tie. Some timber framing visible to rear wall; lozenge
mortices for mullions from wall plate over rear wall opening. A. and G.
