House, early C17 and later, brick, plain tiles, some pantiles, crowstepped
gables. Main range of 3 bays, 2 storeys and attic with 2 storeyed central
porch of early C19; single-bay 2-storeyed and attic addition to rear right;
1 bay single storeyed and attic range to left. Main range: crowstepped
gables; facade to south; 3rd bay and right return in English bond on flint
base. First bay refaced in C18 Flemish bond, central bay with 2-storeyed
porch with attic, crowstepped gables, 4-centred porch arch, cross window
with square hood mould above, pierced quatrefoil to attic; porch returns
with Gothick lights under square hood moulds. Two cross stacks flanking
narrow central bay, each with 3 C19 octagonal shafts. Flush sashes with
glazing bars to bays 1 and 3, those to bay 1 lower; cambered arches to first
floor and to ground floor bay 1, segmental arch to ground floor bay 3. Right
return to east with C19 French window, flush sash in older opening to first-
floor, sash to attic, all with square hood moulds in wood. Single storeyed
range to left with pantiles and off-centre axial stack left; bay to right
with sash, 4 x 5 panes wide, with glazing bars and segmental head, 3-light
casement to dormer above; blocked opening to right. C19 range to rear right:
2 storeys and attic, pantiles, crowstepped gables to returns; left return
to east with 3-light casement to ground floor, flush sash with glazing bars
to first floor. Rear with various colourwashed additions and various
fenestration. Interior: first bay of main range with lower ceilings and
no attic; ground floor with some stopped beams. Stair turret and stair added
to rear of central bay: openwell openstring stair with ramped mahogany hand-
rail, twisted balusters in pine, cast iron newel. Stair to attic to rear
of central bay: steep cantilevered curved openstring stair with stick
balusters, mahogany handrail. Roof to third bay of tenoned purlins and
collars. Single storeyed range to left with large stack enclosed and stopped
tie beam.
