House, early C16 with C18 and C19 additions. Rendered and colourwashed
over timberframe and brick, pantiles. 6½ bays in 4 builds, single storey
and attic. Bays 3-5½ early C16 timberframed open hall with smoke bay to
east, bay 2 an early C18 timberframed cell; bays 1 and 6 C19 of brick, bay
1 lower and set back, front and rear. Principal facade to south: all doors
and casement windows of wood of mid-1980s; off centre axial stack to left
of bay 5; 5 raking dormers to bays 2-6; bay 1 with 2-light opening to left,
stable door to right under swept canopy; bay 2 with 3-light opening to left,
wide gabled part glazed porch to right; 3 3-light openings to bays 3-5;
stable doorway under swept canopy to bay 6. Left return with 3-light
opening to ground floor, 2-light opening to attic. Rear: outshut to rear
of smoke bay; 2-light opening to rear of bay 6; inserted small openings
of 2, 3 and 1 lights to rear of bays 3-5. Interior: C16 core of bays 3-
5½ with timberframe, inserted C17 stack to bay 3; inserted floor. Former
end wall to north with opening having 2 slim lozenge mullions and central
splat mullion; opening with inserted frame to former south wall. Bridging
beam to north cell (bays 3 and 4) renewed; reused C17 tie beam between bay
3 and former smoke bay having lambs longue stops to east end only. 2 tier
roof with clasped purlins, and collars; 17cm chamfered principal rafters;
ridge piece renewed; some timbers repositioned.
