(east side)
5/8 orchard House
House. C17 with C20 alterations. Brick, laid in English bond. Plain tiles
to front roof slope, pantiles to rear. 2 storeys in 4 bays, rather
irregularly disposed. Door left of centre. 3 4-light late C20 casements to
ground floor and 4 similar casements to first floor, one of which is of 2-light
only. Gabled roof. C20 ridge stack right of centre. C17 (but rebuilt)
northern internal gable end stack : rectangular plinth with rectangular flue
constructed in serrated brickwork. 2 storey C20 extension with gabled roof
abuts north gable. Rear is a jumble of C20 outshuts and C20 fenestration but
under eaves to left remains a 3-light C17 ovolo mullioned timber window. Roof
structure of tie beams, principals, 2 tiers butt purlins and collars. No other
internal feature earlier than the C20 is visible.
