5/9 The White House
II
House. Early C18, rebuilt late C18. Whitewashed brick. Roof of black glazed
pantiles. 2 storeys and dormer attic in 3 bays. Central C20 door in panelled
round-topped doorcase with deep reveals. 5-vaned fanlight over. Flat hood
above this. To left of door a pilaster strip runs up to eaves. To right of
door are patches of early C18 brickwork. Fenestration of C20 casements, those
to ground floor in reduced openings and all under segmental arches. Timber
moulded eaves cornice with modillions. Gabled roof carries a central gabled
dormer. 2 storey early C19 extension to north with hipped roof. Details the
same as main block.
