7/84 Welbeck House

II

House. Late C17 with early C19 alterations. Late C17 English bond brick;
gabled pantile roof; end stacks. 3-unit plan with rear outshut and central
staircase, 2 storeys; 3-window range. Early 19 six-panelled door set in early
C19 doorcase with fluted pilasters and decorative fanlight with honeysuckle
ornament. Canted 2-storey bays of c.1840 have cambered brick arches over
ground-floor French windows and first-floor 8/16/8-pane sashes with glazing
bars. Rear outshut heightened and altered in mid C19. Interior: early C19
cornices and panelled doors set in fluted architraves with roundels; early C19
fireplaces with roundels; late C17 ceased ground-floor beams and chamfered
first-floor beams; early C19 dog-leg staircase with stick balusters; late C17
butt-purlin roof, collars removed.
