7/17 Old Vicarage (No 48)
House. Probably C17 with eaves raised c1800, mid C19 parallel wing.
Rendered timber-frame and brick. Pantile and hipped slate roofs. 2 parallel
3-cell ranges with late C18 2-storey service wing to south. North (entrance)
facade is rendered of 3 bays, 2 storeys. Central doorcase with fluted
pilasters, plain cornice; 4-panel door. To right of door a bow window with
curved 20-pane sash. Small C20 window to right of door then 16-pane sash.
2 16-pane sashes to first floor with 12-pane sash between. Pebbledash right
hand gable return; left hand gable return of painted brick. Gable-end
stacks. South facade of C19 range of 3 bays, 2 storeys. Casements. Central
4-panel door, top 2 panels glazed; rendered pilasters to doorcase; fluted
consoles and plain cornice. Bay windows to either side of door. 3 casements
to upper floor. All openings with shutters. Interior. Timber-framed range
substantially altered c1800. In upper room a 4-centred arch brick fireplace
with chamfered reveal.
