Beulah Barn

Threshing barn. Circa 1600. Weatherboarded timber frame on brick plinth.
Steeply pitched pantile roof. Four-stead barn with gabled wing to east,
L-shaped plan. Waggon entrance with large double doors in west wall,
off-centre. Later double doors and window opening in south gable. Wing
to east has cat-slide extensions on north and south sides. Interior.
Jowled principal posts with arch-braces to tie beams flanking waggon
entrance bay. Full height close studding to walls; corner braces to main
posts. The north bay displays evidence of having been floored and
partitioned off from main barn. Roof structure with reduced principals
and upper clasp purlins, lower butt purlins. Straight wind braces. Range
to east has two tiers of butt purlins, timber knees replacing arch-braces
to central tie beam. Stone slab and brick floor paving. Single storey
additions to east and west.
