2.11.72 Congregational Chapel


1840 brick chapel with black glazed pantile roof. Contains traces of 1625 timber
frame. Tudor style with embattled parapet, stepped gables and polygonal angle
turrets. Two-storey, 5-bay front. Two-light window with 4-centred arch lights and
drip moulds, and with leaded panes. Central porch with stepped gable and polygonal
angle turrets. Similar windows on other elevations.
Interior: complete furnishings of 1840 with gallery on 3 sides supported on square
chamfered posts. Simple panelled box pews and pulpit, on fourth side with Gothick
