House, divided into 2. c.1700, of red brick and colourwashed brick with black
pantile roof. 'L'-shaped plan of 2 storeys, with single storey extension
at the rear. Formerly of 10 bays, but now with early C19 wide, shallow
projecting central bay. Sash windows with glazing bars and flat gauged brick
arches. Some brick decoration associated with original window openings at
each end, including moulded brick platband at first floor level. Central
early C19 6 panel door with fanlight with glazing bars, and door surround
with plain pilasters and entablature. Brick plinth and moulded brick eaves.
Moulded brick kneelers to curved gables with end stack to left. Off centre
axial stack and rear stack. 2 wedge dormers with casement windows with glazing
bars. Fine dog-leg stair, with carved tread ends and turned balusters, moulded
handrails and newels in the form of fluted Corinthian columns. Associated
panelling forming dado to stair, and in stair spandrel, with elliptical headed
door with key block. Panelling of the same date in first floor bedroom with
Ionic pilasters - many early C18 panelled doors. Fine stone fire surround c.1680,
possibly from elsewhere with square 'urn' profile pilasters, Ionic capitals
and entablature. C19 fireplace with Delft tiles depicting biblical scenes.
