3/94 The Manor House.


House. Early C19 fronting of earlier house. Red brick, hipped slate roof;
pantiled roofs on rear wings. Two storeys. East facade of three bays divided
by plain brick pilasters. Sash windows with glazing bars and rubbed brick
arches. Central doorway with half-glazed 2-leaf door. Doorcase with entabla-
ture on fluted Doric columns. Wooden eaves cornice with paired brackets.
C20 canted bay, rendered and colourwashed, on south side. Two chimney stacks
symmetrically placed behind ridge line. 2½ storey hipped wing to west with
stepped parapet on north wall. In west range a fine staircase of c.1600 with
turned balusters and massive carved newels, probably re-set.
