TG 21 SW OLD CATTON ST. FAITH'S ROAD

4/21 Crone House

II

House, divided into doctor's surgery and flats. Early C18, of colourwashed
brick with slate roof. Single pile, extended in 1823, with additional pile
at rear. Possibly earlier wing with steep pitched roof attached at east end.
2 storeys and attics. Asymetrical facade, 5 windows with off centre raised
and fielded 6 panel door with moulded timber architrave. Projecting porch
with 'Tuscan' columns, pilasters and entablature. Mullion and transom windows,
some with wrought iron casements and leaded lights. Flat gauged brick arches
with key blocks. Rusticated brick quoins with capitals at first floor level
from where plat band has been removed. 3 wedge dormers and parapet gables.
Blocked oculus on west gable. End stacks. Lower range to east of 2 windows.
Off centre entrance door with C20 porch. Pargetted fragments. Render plat-
band. Parapet gable with gable stack. Rear pile has 5 bays with central
french doors and sash windows with glazing bars and gauged brick arches.
Little C18 detail remains except for some 2 panelled doors, part of a winding
stair, ogee stops and chamfers on beams.
