Parish Church, mainly C15, though much restored in the C19. Flint with
stone dressings and roofs of slate and lead. North aisle, nave with west
bellcote and spire, 2 storey south porch, north chancel chapel and chancel.
North aisle, 4 bays with stepped diagonal buttresses. North door at west
end, with re-set corbel head to its right. C19 Decorated windows.
Octagonal bellcote with louvred openings and spire. C15 south porch with
diagonal stepped buttresses. 2-light windows with 4 centred arches to
east and west. South door way with attached shafts with battlemented
caps. Cusped single light windows at first floor level lighting Parvis.
Sexpartite vault with boss springing from colonnettes inside the porch.
South doorway with double ogee moulding. Fabric of south wall C12. Nave
2 bays with stepped buttress and C19 2-light window. North chancel chapel
1 bay with C19 window to north and Perpendicular 3-light window with
quatrefoils in the side lights to east. Gable raised to form lean-to,
with parapets to south, east and west. 2 bay chancel with stepped diagonal
buttresses. 2, 2-light Perpendicular windows to south. The western most
window, has a ½ transom with an additional 1-light cusped window below.
3-light Perpendicular east window with hood mould and carved label stops.
Wall monument to Mary Aves, died 1763. Parapet gables. Inside, the north
aisle butt purlin roof is probably C18. 2 bay north arcade with quatrefoil
piers with angle fillets, bases and capitals. The double ogee moulded
arches are continuous down to the bases at the responds. 2 bay arch braced
roof with carved corbels. Cusped niche to north of chancel arch. Chancel
arch with attached shafts and double ogee moulding. Arch in north chancel
arch with double ogee moulding, now blocked with C19 6-light window.
North door in chancel mainly C19. Restored Aumbry and piscina with ogee
tracery in rectangular heads in south wall. Restored piscina in north
chancel chapel. Good brasses of Richard de Heylesdon, and Ricardus Thaleburgh.
