7/17 The Manor House.


Former Farmhouse, late C17 rebuilding of C16 house. Built of brick with black
and red pantiled roof. 3 cell house of 2 storeys and attics with single storey
range to west. Principal facade to south. Central late C19 raised and fielded
panel door with circular panel. Gabled timber porch continues to east of
late C19 canted bay with 7 light transomed casement window. Two 3-light
transomed C19 casements to west of door. Three 4-light C19 casement windows
to first floor. Parapet gables with brick kneelers, tumbling-in and end
stacks. 2 gabled dormers to south with C20 2-light casements. North elevation
contains large fragment of C16 brickwork of two types, with blocked openings.
Scattered fenestration of replacement hollow chamfer mullion windows with
wrought iron lights. C17 iron ties at first floor level. Single storey C17
kitchen wing has central boarded door to south with casement windows each
side. West parapet gable with tie irons, brick kneelers and tumbling-in.
Straight flight oak stairs with C17 turned balustrade on landing. Chamfered
bridging beams with ogee nicked stops. Winding stairs against west stack
to attics. Double staggered butt purlin roof.
