House, mid C17 remodelled in mid C19. Rendered brick with thatched roof.
Asymmetric plan of 2 storeys and attics. C17 east-west wing with gabled ends
and short north-east wing. Two short C19 symmetrical wings added to south,
and triple pile added to north, the eastern pile, incorporating the short
C17 wing. Asymmetric eastern facade, with gable to left. Central single storey
porch with battlemented parapet. Half glazed entrance door with 'Tudor' arch
hood mould and spandrels in render. 2 and 3-light casement windows with
transoms, rectangular hood moulds and label stops. Symmetrical double fronted
facade to south. French casements at ground floor level and 2-light casements
with transoms on first floor with hood moulds. Central recessed 4 panel door
with fanlight, flanked by single light casements. Timber quatrefoiled oculuses
in gables. Decorated timber bargeboards. Axial stacks with double polygonal
shafts on north-east and north-west wings and internal stack at rear on
north-east wing. Interior mainly C19. Black and white C19 marble fireplace
on ground floor, and timber fire surround on 1st floor. C19 straight flight
stair with square balusters and wreathed hardwood hand rail. Moulded plaster
ceilings. C17 transverse bridging joists at 1st floor ceiling level with ovolo
mouldings and barred stops. Some C17 hardwood floor boards on 1st floor. C17,
6 bay, windbraced, butt purlin roof in east west range. Former external axial
end stack within north east wing.
