7/33 The Old Post Office.
Former shop, early C19, of red brick with slate roof. Double pile with C20
extension, all of 2 storeys, with single storey outshut to east. Double fronted
facade to west. C20 part glazed door in C19 frame. Double revealed opening,
with gauged brick elliptical arches. Radial pattern in spandrel. Blank window
above with gauged brick ogee arch. Segmental plan bays, with full width windows
with glazing bars and flat gauged brick arches at ground floor level. Sash
windows with glazing bars at first floor level. Windows curved in plan with
bays. North elevation has 2 symmetrical windows at first floor level, and
at ground floor left a C20 window in original opening with gauged brick arch
in the form of a Venetian window head. 4 panel part glazed door to right.
Bracketed eaves to west. Hipped roof with central stack. C20 wing and lean-
to, not of special interest.
