Blickling Hall

Former service range, now National Trust offices. Dated 1624 on east front
but much rebuilt behind facade in late C19. Red brick with stucco dressings;
some diaper-work. Steeply-pitched roof plaintiled to east, pantiled to west.
Two storeys and attic. East facade of 14 bays: bays 3, 6, 9 and 12 have Dutch
gables with moulded brick base-corbels. 3-light ovolo-moulded mullion windows
with leaded glazing and iron casements. Transoms to first floor windows.
2-light attic windows in gables, square stuccoed panels above. Five door
openings, semicircular-headed, with plain stuccoed pilasters on red brick
plinth. Moulded platband above ground floor window heads. Dutch gable to
north. Six ridge stacks with diagonally-set square shafts in groups of 2,
3 and 4. West side much rebuilt: sashes and top-hung windows, all with
glazing bars in plain stuccoed surrounds. Moulded eaves cornice.
