GV II

Barn. C18 and mid C19. Red brick. Steeply-pitched roof of single-roll
clay tiles (west side) and pantiles (east side). Rectangular 5-stead plan.
Symmetrical facade to west of 8 bays: bays 3 and 6 slightly advanced under
later shaped gables. Waggon entrances with keyed semicircular rubbed brick
arches with stuccoed quoins and reveals. Square honeycomb brick vents in
pairs between entrances. Quadrant-moulded brick eaves cornice. Parapeted
north and south gables with square apex-finials and continuous tumbling-in
to parapet. Catslide roof over lean-to along east side. Roof has two tiers
of staggered butt-purlins with straight wind-braces to upper tier. Tie beams
originally had straight braces to wallposts and corbels. Brick threshing
floor at south end. Attached red brick courtyard wall at south-west corner
with half-round coping; square gate pier with ball-finial. Attached wall
at north-west corner linking to archway across drive: semicircular arch with
square-topped parapet; details obscured by creeper growth.
