3/48 The Dower House
House. C17, remodelled and extended in mid C19. Red brick with diaper work
in east gable. Steeply-pitched roofs of corrugated clay tiles. Two storeys,
double-pile plan. Elevation to Green of three bays - 2, 3 and 4-light windows
with ovolo-moulded mullions and transoms in renewed chamfered and stuccoed
reveals. First floor windows have glazing bars. Central doorway with 4-
centred stuccoed arch and doorcase with Doric pilasters and dentilled cornice.
Brick-eaves corbel-table. Stepped east and west gables with moulded eaves
corbels, internal chimney stacks with twin diagonally-set shafts. Low lean-
to with stepped parapet at west gable. C19 range to south forming double
pile: stepped east and west gables, ovolo-moulded mullion and transom windows.
Two taller bays to south with shaped gables, moulded brick drip moulds to
window heads. Internal gable stacks with twin diagonally-set shafts, axial
stack off-centre to west. Eaves corbel table.
