5.6.72. listed as Shire Hall)

Crown Court. 1822-23 by William Wilkins, refaced in 1913. Red brick with
stone dressings. Roof not visible. Neo-Tudor: 2 storeys. 9 bays arranged
1:1:2:1:2:1:1, the centre bay projects and the end bays recessed. Central
entry with moulded 4-centre arch and polygonal turrets with castellated
parapets. 3-light "Perpendicular" window above entry. Doors in penultimate
outer bays with moulded 4-centre arches: blocked to right-side with C20 window.
3-light windows throughout with cusped arches and square dripmoulds. Bays
defined by turrets. Stringcourse at first floor. Moulded cornice beneath
castellated parapet with small gables above outer door bays.
