Printing Works.

Brick-built undercroft, former use unknown but probably connected to the
Carmelite Friary. Now used as printing museum. Late C13 and C14 walls with
C15 vaulting. Flint and brick with some stone dressings. Ranged at right-
angles to the street-line and encase on the south and east sides by C20 ware-
houses. The north wall is 2 storeys. Diagonal and cross-ribs springing from
wall piers. Wide end-chamber possibly connected with C15 stair entry in the
north-east corner. Graded II* as one of an important group within the City
Walls. Scheduled as an Ancient Monument. M. Atkin "The Carmelite Friary,
