James and James Warehouse
SP 7560 NE 1/200A

Warehouse. C.1900. Red brick with stone bands and dressings, low-pitched hipped
slate (?) roof. 5 storeys. Corner block with chamfered angle. Arcaded ground
floor of massive brick piers, with stone corbels carrying flat strips which
articulate the bay divisions of the 1st. 2nd and 3rd floors, and are linked
above the 3rd floor windows by relieving arches, patterned in stone and brick.
Similar (but narrower) relieving arches over 1st and 2nd floor windows. 3-light
windows (2-light at corner) with glazing bars, divided by transom. Entablature
above ground floor. Cornice above 3rd floor, 4th floor, less tall, treated
as attic, with flat profile. and relieving arches without stone decoration over
windows similar to but smaller than those beneath - except a corner where the
4th floor window is the same as those below and has a pediment above. Included
for group value.
