15/17 The Nags Head Public House
GV II

Public house. Mid C17 to mid C18 and C19. Cob, timber framed and brick, with
thatch and old plain tile roof. Originally one-unit plan, now 3 units. Part may
originally have been open hall, now single storey with attic, and 2 storeys.
3-window range of casements with glazing bars; centre ground floor window is a
horizontal sliding sash. Window to far right has exposed wood lintel. First
floor window to far left is under eyebrow dormer. 2 plank doors between window
range. Bay to far right has a brick facade and plain tile porch. 3 eaves and
ridges levels and brick stacks at ridge and end. Lean-to to left gable has
thatch roof. Right gable has exposed timber framing. Early C19 brick extension
with plain tile roof to rear. Interior: centre roof has open fireplace with
bressumer, ceiling beams. Said to have original roof structure. Bay to left of
main front is of earliest date.
