Temperance Hall, now town hall and public library. Datestone 1868. Squared
coursed ironstone with ashlar dressings. First-floor hall with former
hall-keepers dwelling below. South elevation has central gabled porch with pair
of panelled doors in moulded stone surround and arch head; small trefoil above.
Tall 3-light first-floor window has square stepped head and moulded stone
surround. Stepped gable above has ashlar parapets, kneelers, and arch head
finial with datestone. Clock with moulded stone surround above windows. North
elevation is similar but plain with central arch head opening, with moulded
stone surround, giving access to first-floor hall. Side elevations of 4-window
ranges of 2-light windows with moulded stone surrounds arid pointed heads at
first floors. 2 stage buttresses between windows. Lateral stone stacks.
Interior: first-floor hall retains C19 exposed roof structure.
