GV II

House, now office and shop. Mid C18. Ironstone ashlar with original plain-tile
roof. Originally 2-unit plan with staircase projections to rear. 2 storeys with
cellar. 5-window range. Central 6-panelled door, now part-glazed, has segmental
arch head with keystone and flat wooden hood over. Pair of sash windows to left
of entrance. Glazing bars and segmental arch heads with keystones. C20 shop
window to right of entrance. 2-light stone mullion cellaar window to right of
entrance. First floor windows are sash windows with glazing bars and segmental
arch heads with keystones. 3 roof dormers, 2 have sash windows with glazing
bars. Moulded stone cornice and brick and stone stacks at ends. Rear has small
projecting C18 gable with 2 sash windows with glazing bars and ashlar gable
parapets. Larger C18 wing to right, modified C19. Interior has early C19
staircase with turned balustrade round an open well. Panelled dado to ground
floor rooms. Forms one of a pair of semi-detached houses with No.3 Burystead
Place (q.v.).
