GV II

House, formerly vicarage. Mid C17, partly rebuilt C18, with C19 alterations.
Coursed squared ironstone, banded with limestone to old portion, plain-tile
roofs; brick end stack to left, brick rear lateral stack, massive stone internal
stack with three brick diagonal flues. L-plan. 2 storeys and attic; 5-window
range. C19 part-glazed door to left of centre in moulded stone surround with
4-centred head, flanked by C19 dressed limestone canted bay windows with stone
mullion and transom windows. A 2-light casement window to ground floor right
with timber lintel. Similar 2-light windows to first floor, 3-light above right
bay, all with timber lintels. Cross wing to far right has 4-light stone mullion
leaded window to ground floor, a similar 3-light window to first floor and
similar 2-light attic window, all with hood moulds. Chamfered plinth and
stone-coped gables with kneelers. Interior not inspected. Once the home of Jane
Leeson who founded the school (q.v.).
