6/20 Coal Staithes at
Blyth Power Station


Coal staithes, c.1910-1923. Timber construction. Staithes c.500 metres long,
traditional braced timber construction, with 3 decks; trusses each consist of
4 pairs of uprights; long diagonal braces spanning 4 trusses. Construction of
the staithes, for the North Eastern Railway Company, was commenced before World
War I and completed c.1923.

The only remaining example of coastal coal staithes in the North of England.
