NZ 28 NE (North side)

2/28 Ashington Farmhouse


House, C18 probably incorporating earlier fabric. Roughly-squared stone with
cut dressings; Welsh slate roof with rebuilt brick stacks. 2 storeys, 3 bays,
slightly irregular. Right-of-centre half-glazed door with overlight in
irregular-block surround, with carved coat of arms in panel above. 6-pane sash
windows with patterned leading to side lights. Coped gables with end stacks.
Right return shows rear outshut with older masonry, and rear wing with similar
sash windows and 2 stepped-and-corniced ridge stacks.

Continuation of rear wing beyond second stack, and single-storey extensions to
west of wing, are altered and not of special interest.
