2/47 Cage Shop to west
of pit-head

GV II

Cage Shop, c.1900. Yellow Ashington brick with gauged arches to door and
windows; Welsh slate roof. South elevation; 1 storey, 3 bays. Bays defined
by pilasters, running through stepped and cogged architrave, to stepped and
cogged eaves cornice. Round-arched windows with radial heads, 2 with metal-
framed casements, that to right blocked. Returns show pedimented gables;
right return tall vehicle entrance with boarded double doors under round arch.
Similar fenestration to rear.
