House, c. 1830 extended and remodelled internally 1908. Tooled stone with
ashlar plinths and dressings, east wing squared stone; blue slate roof except
for purple slates on extension. South elevation 2 storeys, in 2 sections.
Left part 3 + 1 bays; left 3 bays the original house; plinth, pilasters.
Narrower centre bay recessed slightly above distyle-in-antis porch, doorcase
with fluted pilasters. Plate-glass sash windows with slightly-projecting sills.
Eaves cornice with paired brackets to overhanging eaves. Hipped roof with
stepped-and-corniced ridge stack. Flat-roofed right bay is 1908 addition in
facsimile. Right part, set back, is 1908 east wing; 3 + 1 bays, plainer, with
similar fenestration; roof hipped to right; stepped-and-corniced stacks on
ridge and front roof slope. Left return 2 wide 2-window bays, detail and
fenestration as original south front. Rear elevation shows 1908 canted bay and
large segmental-headed stair window; on far left projecting C19 2-storey wing.
Interior: open-well stair of 1908, stair window with miners' tools and motto
LABOR VINCIT OMNIA.
