House with ground floor shop, dated 1876, with early C19 rear wing. Tooled
ashlar; rear wing squared stone with tooled-and-margined dressings. Welsh
slate roof. Italianate style. 3 storeys + attic, 5 windows. Ground floor
has ornamental timber cornice broken forward above pilasters flanking shopfront
on left and yard entrance on right; twin basket-arched shop windows have
moulded stone plinth and flanking fluted and twisted cast-iron uprights;
central pair of half-glazed doors. Yard entrance has panelled double gates,
the upper parts open with ornamental wrought-iron screenwork, and 3-pane
overlight. lst floor has moulded sill and impost bands and arched windows;
archivolts have keystones with incised ornament, the central dated. 2nd floor
has moulded bands below aprons and at impost level of basket-arched windows.
Moulded eaves cornice on large paired brackets. 2 timber roof dormers with
moulded 3-centred arches. Coped gables on shaped foot stones; truncated
end stacks. All windows plain sashes.

3-bay wing to rear left with renewed 12-pane sashes in alternating-block
surrounds.

Included for group value; altered L-plan range at end of wing is not of
special interest.
