BRINKBURN WELDON BRIDGE

10/90 The Anglers Arms
GV II

Inn. Mid-C18 with early C19 south-west wing. Brick, largely in stretcher
bond, with stone dressings, except for stone rear outshut; rendered and
colour-washed except at rear, Welsh slate roof.

Main block 3 storeys, 2 + 1 + 2 bays. Plinth, 1st floor band and 2nd floor
sill band. Central doorway and window to right now within porch; 2nd-floor
windows in centre and end bays only; all windows 4-pane sashes; all openings
in raised surrounds. Raised tumbled-in gable copings; rebuilt banded end
stacks. Bands, with an additional one at eaves level, continued across right
return.

Projecting wing on left shows similar fenestration; three-window two-storey
end bow with castellated parapet and hipped roof behind. Renewed doorway on
right return; 9-pane sash stair window with intersecting head under round
arch on left return.

Interior altered.

Attached railway carriage to west ('The Pullman Dining Car') is not of special
interest.
