Gas Works, mid-C19. Squared stone with cut dressings and brick buttress;
Welsh slate roof. Rectangular retort house with outbuilding range to south.
East elevation: Retort house single storey, 2 bays. Central round-arched
doorway; semicircular window to right with iron-framed radial glazing, stone
surround and slightly-projecting sill; stable door with 4-pane overlight to
left; broad raking buttress at left end. Coped gables; broad square stack,
projecting from left return, now terminates a little above roof ridge since
brick upper part removed. To left is lower 4-bay outbuilding; former arcade
of round arches altered, except for blocked arch at right end; coped left end
gable.

Rear elevation (to road): Retort house shows 2 iron-framed semicircular
windows with cemented-over roundel between.

Interior: Retort house has roof structure entirely composed of iron rods,
to reduce fire risk.

at time of survey, is included for group value.
