14/73 Sycamore Cottages
(Nos. 1 and 2)
Pair of prefab bungalows, 1927. Reinforced concrete cavity walls, painted
white with black plinth; red tile roof except for felted tops to porches.
2 + 3 bays. No. 1, to left, has left end projecting flat-roofed porch with
top-glazed door on inner return and 2 windows; one window in right bay. No. 2
has similar porch with renewed door in centre bay. Hipped roof with small
stack at centre of ridge. Single window on each return. Rear elevation
shows cut-away corners.
No. 1 has small-paned part-opening wooden casement windows; all windows of
No. 2 renewed late C20.
Added sunlounges at rear are not of interest.
Shown at the 1927 North East Coast Exhibition on the Town Moor, Newcastle;
bought by Mr. Thompson, Newcastle City Treasurer and erected on present site
as summer cottages.
