17 metres south
of east end of
Church of St. Mary

Headstone, 1799. Sandstone. Relief-carved top panel with anchor, rope,
trumpet, arrow and scythe, flanked by shipwreck scenes. Inscription 'To
the Memory of Geo. Brown of Bedlington Master Mariner who on the 5th of AP;
1799 was wreck'd on this Coast aged 46 years.

Hath tost me to and fro
In spite of both by Gods decree
I Harbour here below
Now here at Anchor I do lie
With many of our Fleet
In hopes to set my Sail again
My Saviour Christ to meet
