NU 22 SW NEWTON-BY-THE-SEA LOW NEWTON-BY-THE-SEA

GV II

Coastguard Station, second quarter of C19. Squared rubble with cut dressings,
whitewashed; Welsh slate roof with brick stack. T-plan. Plinth. Coastward
elevation single storey, 3 bays; projecting centre has open-pedimented gable
and canted pyramid-roofed bay window with renewed glazing. Flanking bays
have segmental-headed windows with slightly-projecting sills, right with 12-
pane sash, left blocked. Hipped roof with stepped-and-corniced ridge stack
near right end. Returns show similar 12-pane sashes. Rear elevation shows
central porch with 4-pane casement under pedimented gable, with arched boarded
door on right return; flanking bays have blocked segmental-arched windows.
