Shortridge Hall was used as a hospital in one of the world wars (not sure which one but probably the second). The tree lined road leading up to it used to be the private driveway until the house was used as a hospital, this was when the street lights were put in place. One of the nurses had a relationship with a soldier and when renovation work was being carried out their love letters were found in an old chimney breast. The couple were traced and were celebrating a milestone wedding anniversary. There is a medieval wall on the property, see 'keys to the past' website to find out more.
