Estate houses. Dated 1838 in gables. By Edward Blore for the Earl of Tankerville.
Roughly dressed stone with ashlar surrounds. Welsh slate roof. U-shaped plan.
2 storeys. 6 bays in all. Upper windows gabled dormers breaking eaves. They, and
gables to projecting wings have overlapping coping stones and kneelers. Similar
gables to porches projecting into courtyard from ends of wings. Windows chamfered
and slightly recessed. Chamfered mullions in gable-end windows. Sash windows, most
of them original. Single-storey addition to right, 3 bays with 2-bay outshut
containing chamfered doorway and small window. Slender, square, tall chimney stack.
Main block has big coupled, stone, corniced stacks; 3 on ridge and one projecting
on each return. Small screen walls, with chamfered square piers and ridged coping,
project from porches to form gateway to courtyard. Square gate piers with pyramidal
caps.
